Dance Extravaganza
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the show run for?
The entire show runs for 1 hour 36 minutes with a 15 minute interval in between Acts.
We have purchased tickets but no longer need them, can we get a refund?
I'm sorry but all ticket sales are final. You are more than welcome to post on our Facebook page and sell them on there instead.
Our Tickets have the May Date on them instead of 29th August?
Please keep these tickets and use them as the times are still correct.
The Ticket Order Form is no longer working?
From the Thursday 10pm before the show, online Ticket orders cease. This is so all Tickets can be allocated against payments made during Friday morning, as everyone is busy packing up the costumes, props and sets in the afternoon. Tickets may be purchased 30mins before each show commences from the Ticket Booth at the Theatre.
Where do I pay for my tickets?
Tickets can either be paid in cash to your tutor (inside a named envelope please) or to the same bank account as Tuition Fees. There will be door sales at the Theatre depending on availability.
Do I have to make my child's costume?
All costumes are provided by The Ballet Academy and are left at the Theatre at the end of the show. In some circumstances you may need to bring your child to the studio for a fitting outside of normal class hours.
My child can not make the Theatre Rehearsals but I still wish her to be in the show?
These rehearsals are where the girls get on the stage for the first time, learn where to stand, where to go for each part of their dance, see where the set pieces are so they know where to run on and off safely - it is incredibly important to their happiness, that is why they have to be at the rehearsals to dance in the shows. For their own confidence, safety and as part of the team, all students must attend the Theatre Rehearsals to dance in the show.
Does my child wear her dance uniform to the Theatre?
Yes, she will need her entire uniform including dance shoes if applicable for the Theatre Rehearsals.
What time does my child need to be at the Theatre before their show?
All students need to be at the theatre 1hr before the show starts.
What does my child do in-between the two shows?
Your child will stay at the Theatre to be supervised by us (please include a well-packed lunch/early dinner and drink bottle).
After they have finished the 2.00pm Show, they will get changed back into normal clothes and be taken into the Atrium (if a cold/wet day) or outside on the lawn (if a nice fine day) to eat their food and recharge. They then will be brought back in to the Backstage area at the correct time and have their makeup checked (please ensure to supply their named makeup in a named makeup bag) and handed over to the care of their backstage class helper.
We have someone who would like a wheelchair seat for the show, are these available?
Yes, there are up to three spaces per show for wheelchairs. Please email if you would like me to book one of these spaces for you.
Is it allocated seating?
Yes. We allocate seats in a first paid, first allocated system. Please note all tuition fees and production fees must be paid before tickets are allocated. There will also be the opportunity to purchase video seats which are located in the back two rows of the theatre.
Can I watch the Rehearsals in the Theatre?
Sorry, the Theatre Rehearsals are only for the students and staff of The Ballet Academy. Parents are more than welcome to wait in the Foyer of the Theatre.
Do Rehearsals run over time?
Yes they may run over the allotted time. If for some reason students are having trouble with the staging of their dance, then we will spend longer to ensure all the students feel comfortable and happy. Please understand that we like to make sure the dancers can perform to the best of their ability and that their performance is a positive experience.
Do I have to buy all the Makeup as listed in the Makeup Tutorial?
90% of the makeup is usually found at home already, there is just the special stage lipstick that would be required. It has a blue base to the red which makes their lips look lovely onstage. The Ballet Academy will supply this lipstick and it will be applied by brush to each student, using a brush steriliser between each student. The full size lipstick can also be purchased for a students private use if wished. It is available from Minifies online store only and from the brand “Kryolan”. The colour is called L8 and retails for $26.00.
Can we get copies of the photos from the Photo Day?
Yes, Photos will be emailed out in digital form and there will be a small charge for this service.
Can we get a DVD of the show?
No, we will not be selling DVDs of this show. You are welcome to video your child/ren but only them and only for private home viewing. This is per the conditions from OneMusic/APRA NZ and is a copyright offence if shown publicly. People who wish to video will be asked to book and sit in the last two rows of the theatre so as not disturb the enjoyment of other theatre patrons.
My child normally has her dance class on a Saturday, will there still be classes on?
There are no classes held on Saturday 29th August while we are in at the Theatre. This is due to all the Tutors being at the Theatre getting the students comfortable with the stage before the performance or putting the show together.
