Volunteer Job Descriptions
BEFORE THE SHOW
Bringing costumes or sets or props to the Theatre
These volunteers would need to meet at the studio on the Friday before the Theatre Day (28th August) and pick up the things to take to the theatre. They would need to be at the Theatre by 7:30am to drop it off.
Costume Assistants
Hang all Costumes up and steam them ready for the first show. They would need to be there from 7.45am on Saturday 29th August.
Stage Door Volunteers
Sit at the stage door and check off the roll, all the students as they arrive. This is important as it is used in case of fire, earthquakes etc.
Must not allow anyone who is not on the student roll or helper roll, backstage unless authorised by one of the staff.
Rehearsal Runner
Sits in the Theatre and collects students ready for rehearsals.
Lunch/Early Dinner Student Minders
They collect all students after the 2.00pm Show and if a nice fine day, sits with the students outside on the Lawn while everyone eats, drinks and recharges. Escorting students to the bathroom if necessary. If a wet or cold day they sit inside the Theatre Atrium.
DURING THE SHOW
During the show Student Minders
Needs to be at the Theatre 1hr before the show starts and check in at the Stage Door Table. Ensures that all students have arrived in their allocated Dressing Room. If not, they need to let a staff member know ASAP. Takes students to the toilet. Gets students into their costumes and makes sure they are all happy and excited! They will accompany their group to the side of stage and after they have danced bring them back to their Dressing Room. At the end of the show, they hang up all costumes and take the students out to the foyer to stand under their allocated Prop. Props will be found in a bucket near the Senior Dressing Room. Programme Sellers
Needs to be at the Theatre 30mins before the show starts. Collects change and Programmes from the Ticket Booth operator. Just before the show starts they hand Programmes and change back to the Ticket Booth operator.
Ticket Booth Operator
Needs to be at the Theatre 30mins before the show starts. Collects Change, Programmes and Tickets from the Stage Door Table. Just before the show starts they hand everything back to the Stage Door Table.
Ushers
Needs to be at the Theatre 30mins before the show starts. Collects Tickets as people enter the Theatre. Please ensure one ticket = one person as we sometimes have sell-out shows.
Quick Change Costumers
Needs to be at the Theatre 30mins before the show starts and check in at the Stage Door Table. You will be shown who needs to be changed quickly, which costume they are going into and where to change them. Needs to be cool under pressure. Will remain backstage for the whole of the show to oversee the students quick change.
Side of Stage Helper
Needs to be at the Theatre 30mins before the show starts and check in at the Stage Door Table. Then proceed Backstage and find Miss Jess. You will be allocated either Stage Right or Stage Left and given a clipboard which has the names of the students and the order they line up. During the show you will need to check each student to make sure they are ready to go. Will remain backstage for the whole of the show. Please note: You will not be able to see the onstage dancing due to the sets.
Runners
Needs to be at the Theatre 30mins before the show starts and check in at the Stage Door Table. Then proceed Backstage and find Miss Jess. You will be given a clipboard which has the order to bring students from their Dressing Rooms to the side of stage helpers. You will need to be fit as it is a lot of running around and also authoritive to get the students to quietly and quickly make their way to the side stage. Please note: You will not be able to see the onstage dancing and will remain backstage for the whole of the show.
AFTER THE SHOW
Set Pack Out
After the Show has finished, these volunteers meet outside at the side of stage door and help to load all the sets and props back into the waiting trucks.
Costume Assistants
After the Show has finished, these volunteers come backstage and pack away the costumes into the boxes and bring to the side of the stage to be loaded into the trucks.
Tidiers
After the Show has finished, these volunteers come backstage and make sure all rubbish is in the bins and that the Dressing Rooms are neat and tidy.
Set/Prop/Costume Transport
These volunteers meet outside the roller side of stage door with their trucks and transport back to their homes, those items. The following day (Sunday) at a time that is convenient for them they drop it back to the studio.
